Job Summary
The Product Manager is primarily responsible for maximizing revenue and gross margin for their respective product categories by ensuring we have the right products for the markets and geographies we serve. The PM is responsible for product planning and execution throughout the Product Lifecycle, including gathering and prioritizing product and market/customer requirements, and defining the product vision. Then working closely with sales channels, marketing, engineering, and support to ensure customer satisfaction goals are met while maintaining revenue goals. Ensure product alignment with the company's overall strategy and goals.
This position is full-time, on-site in Painesville, Ohio, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. through 5:00 p.m.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Own and enhance profitability of their assigned products while ensuring product strategies are aligned with company strategies.
- Conduct market research and analysis to understand the competitive landscape and market trends.
- Work with Sales Channels to determine best solutions and ensure customer satisfaction.
- Estimate the labor necessary and understand sequential processes required to manufacture a product.
- Understand customer product and technology roadmap to determine if new products are required.
- Maintain appropriate price lists, quotation database, and NBO log in Salesforce.
- Oversee and manage product line life cycles to maximize revenue and gross margin while anticipating potential problems that affect product success and market adoption.
- Work closely with customers, sales dept, external sales reps and engineering to create product requirements and ensure product goals are met.
- Collaborate with operations, engineering, marketing, sales, quality, procurement, customer service and finance to develop and execute product plans using stage gate process and project tracking.
- Propose product investments and proactively work to resolve product issues.
- Identify opportunities to innovate and improve products.
- Break customer drawings down into bills of materials.
- Ensure timely and applicable price increases, manage customer price books accordingly.
- Establish the annual product forecast and maintain accountability for meeting top and bottom-line objectives.
- Create and maintain product presentations for various lines and capabilities.
Required Skills/Abilities
- Demonstrated success defining, acquiring, developing, and launching products.
- Strong understanding of business within the appropriate marketplace.
- Good understanding of electronic hardware development and manufacturing processes.
- Ability to review schematics and mechanical drawings to ensure product requirements are met.
- Team player and strong contributor to positive team culture.
- Experience with Sales Force or other applicable CRM Software.
- Ability to develop accurate costs and understand challenges within BOM / product.
- Business skills including P&L, business case strategy, and SWOT analysis.
- Ability to manage multiple products successfully.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills, strong analytic and strategic thinking skills.
- Excellent presentation, interpersonal and communication skills.
- Process oriented with ability to think and work independently.
- Initiative to develop and advance skillset and knowledge within this position.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
- Previous experience within the electrical interconnect industry.
- Previous experience in handling electronic hardware related programs.
- Previous experience in customer interfacing with an OEM as a supplier.
- Previous experience managing product lines a plus.
- Previous experience using tools to analyze product data.
- Microsoft Office Skills required.
- Ability to meet ITAR requirements of US citizenship or US permanent residence.
