J Harlan Group is currently conducting a search for a RODUCT MANAGER – DISCRETIONARY INVESTMENT TECHNOLOGY at a prominent Global Investment Firm in NYC.

They’re seeking an exceptional PRODUCT MANAGER to join the Discretionary Investments team to drive the design and launch of innovative trading, financial analysis, and AI products. This team works with the firm’s discretionary investment groups to build products that help drive the firm’s growth. Principal Responsibilities:

  • As a product manager, you’ll partner with end users and business leaders from multiple investment teams, as well as a team of software developers and designers, to define and launch products that drive business goals and efficiency.
  • You’ll conduct discovery work to understand user needs, clarify ideas in ambiguous problem spaces, and conceptualize solutions while playing a key role in determining where AI capabilities can be strategically leveraged.
  • You’ll be responsible for identifying opportunities that align with company objectives, creating product requirements, managing stakeholder relationships, and ensuring the successful launch, adoption, and impact of products.
  • Over time, you’ll be expected to develop a deep understanding of the firm’s businesses, products, processes, tech and AI initiatives.

The ideal candidate would have a background

  • Candidates with a bachelor's degree or higher, along with three to six years of relevant work experience.
  • Product management experience in finance is preferred, and experience product managing AI tools is a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, an aptitude for translating the needs of non-technical users into product requirements, and the judgment to exercise a high level of discretion with confidential information.
  • A willingness to take on challenging, high-impact projects, dive into details, have a dedicated customer service mentality, collaborate effectively with teammates, and drive projects to completion.
  • Strong desire to contribute and build a business – not just solve novel problems.
  • Ability to work with a wide range of users – traders, portfolio managers, research analysts, quants and the wider investment management team to develop and implement technology in support of a dynamically growing investment platform
  • A knack for solving open-ended problems and seeing how small details interrelate to impact the bigger picture (i.e., systems thinking).

SALARY RANGE: The expected annual base salary for this position is $185,000 to $230,000. Their compensation and benefits package includes variable compensation in the form of a year-end bonus, guaranteed in the first year of hire, and benefits including medical and prescription drug coverage, 401(k) contribution matching, wellness reimbursement, family building benefits, and a charitable gift match program.
