POSITION PROFILE
Responsible for leading the strategy and lifecycle management (launch, manage, retire) of Ricoh’s high-speed inkjet production and pre/post portfolio, including platforms such as the RICOH Pro VC80000 and RICOH Pro Z75, within the Ricoh Graphic Communications ecosystem. This role is accountable for driving market adoption and expanding Ricoh’s presence in general commercial print, with a focus on enabling customer migration from offset to digital production (O2D).
The Senior Product Manager will act as a recognized industry expert in inkjet production, translating market needs, application opportunities, and competitive insights into product and portfolio strategies that accelerate growth. Operating at the intersection of product, go-to-market, and strategic partnerships, this role ensures the portfolio is positioned to outperform the market across both existing and emerging applications.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain fitness of portfolio through full product lifecycle management, including complete and timely market and sales channel launch, ongoing maintenance of product positioning and end of life activities for obsolescence or portfolio rationalization
- Set and achieve annual plans in alignment with corporate targets and Ricoh North America Financial plan
- Translate deep inkjet industry and commercial print application knowledge into actionable product and portfolio decisions, including hardware, software, workflow, finishing, and services components.
- Define and execute strategies that support customer migration from offset to digital production (O2D), including application targeting, value proposition development, and economic positioning.
- Identify and prioritize commercial print applications where inkjet technologies can expand Ricoh’s footprint, including high-volume offset replacement and hybrid environments.
- Shape and support go-to-market strategies that position the inkjet portfolio for growth beyond traditional segments, including new applications, channels, and customer profiles.
- Drive adoption of current and new offerings and improve services attachment rates by aligning print solutions to customer needs.
- Drive customer satisfaction, retention, and net-new customer wins by addressing technology issues impacting product adoption
- Research and translate market and competitive analysis into product strategy decisions, while educating key stakeholders
- Consider competitive price positioning, internal margin expectations, overall market potential and individual competitor risks while managing overall product portfolio
- Understand market factors that create opportunities and risks with our product portfolio, then set and execute a plan to address
- Cross-functional leadership in support of product performance optimization
- Work closely with the sales and marketing teams to devise strategies that drive unit sales, including strategy development, sales enablement, and performance tracking.
- Define and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure product success and inform future development. Measure product performance to recommend and implement appropriate actions to achieve targets. Identify potential risks to achieving sales targets and develop contingency plans.
- Provide regular stakeholder reporting on sales progress, challenges, and opportunities.
- Develop product positioning based on expected use cases and customer requirements, influencing Go To Market and Sales Enablement strategies.
- Provide SME guidance for the development of sales enablement tools and training (e.g. website, brochures, FAQs, launch announcements, etc.).
- Present and communicate value of portfolio to both internal and external stakeholders to maximize sales.
- Work closely with key stakeholders to provide product insights, competitive information, to influence product development and portfolio success.
QUALIFICATIONS (Education, Experience, and Certifications)
- BA/BS degree from an accredited college/university, MBA or post-graduate degree preferred.
- Must have 10+ years of industry experience, with product management, product marketing, sales, or engineering background preferred. Significant depth of knowledge in production inkjet technologies and/or commercial print environments, with a strong understanding of the dynamics driving the transition from offset to digital production.
- Experience with commercial print workflows, applications, and economics, including familiarity with offset printing environments, strongly preferred.
- Experience in managing multiple complex projects and programs simultaneously – strong multi-tasking skills.
- Collaboration skills working across with both internal and external stakeholders. Ability to engage the people at all levels through-out the organization.
- Attention to detail, analytical skills, and the ability to translate technical capabilities to benefits are a must
- Understanding the sales cycles and product lifecycles and their respective pressures on the marketing functions to drive demand and revenue.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Deep understanding of customer workflows, competitive positioning, and the economic drivers of the inkjet and commercial printing market, including application-level dynamics and buying criteria; knowledge of digital press technologies, substrates, inks/toners, finishing, and end-customer applications.
- Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of management and employees – especially at the highest levels of an organization.
- Requires experience as a negotiator and objection handling skills.
- Displays a strong ability for self-direction and shows a high degree of initiative.
- Must be a self-starter with complete accountability. Business maturity and business acumen is a must.
