Group Product Manager - Platform

Compensation: $150,000-$200,000 per year
Location: United States – Remote or Omaha, NE – Hybrid

The job: 

As a Group Product Manager at Buildertrend, you will lead our Platform organization by building the systems that power everything we ship. The Platform team owns the core abstractions and systems – think identity, API, performance, design systems, and more - that enable product engineering teams to move quickly without sacrificing quality. You will lead and develop a small team of product managers while directly shaping the platform itself. Your work will help simplify complexity, turning foundational systems into reliable, composable building blocks.

What you will do:

• Define and drive the long-term architecture and roadmap for Platform across identity & access management, APIs, performance, mobile, design systems, information architecture, and AI foundations.

• Break complex systems into incremental improvements that deliver value early and often.

• Prioritize investments across disparate initiatives, balancing crew enablement, direct end-customer value, and long-term platform scalability.

• Champion a dual-customer focus by building tight feedback loops with internal product engineering teams while staying deeply connected to the needs of our external users.

• Operate alongside engineering as a unified team, jointly navigating technical challenges and determining the best way to build and scale the platform.

• Establish clear measures of success, ensuring platform investments improve product velocity, reliability, UX consistency, accessibility, and user outcomes.

• Develop Product Managers, raising the bar for product thinking and execution across the team.

• Get hands on and build yourself as the Product Manager on some initiatives.

• Contribute to platform foundations that support AI-powered products, including data access, model integration, and system design.

Who you are and what you need:

• Bachelor’s degree required.

• 5+ years of product management experience required; experience in vertical B2B AI or SaaS highly preferred.

• Experience with technical or platform systems.

• 2+ years of people leadership/management experience.

• Ability to navigate complex prioritization tradeoffs between deep technical efforts, engineering team enablement, and end-user experience to ultimately drive customer value.

• A track record of breaking down very technical and ambitious initiatives into iterative, high-quality improvements.

• Systems thinker: you enjoy thinking about how pieces fit together, scale, and evolve over time

• Enjoy getting into the weeds to partner with engineers on data models, APIs, architecture, and performance.

• A metrics-informed mindset, using data to validate decisions and guide iteration.

• Clear, thoughtful communicator who can align teams around complex ideas.

• A curious, forward-thinking tinkerer with an interest in AI tools and workflows, both in product and in your own work
