The Role

Do you want to be part of a team working on building a new business in a rapidly growing segment of the market? We are looking for a motivated, strategic, and solutions-oriented individual who will join our Managed Discretionary Solutions team within the Fidelity Institutional Wealth Advisory Managed Solutions area.

As advisor adoption of Separately Managed Accounts (SMA) continues to increase, we are planning to purposefully grow and expand our Custom SMA distribution and product offering solutions to capitalize on the market environment. This product area provides exposure and experience collaborating with cross functional and cross enterprise teams including Asset Management, Fidelity Institutional, LRC (Legal, Risk, & Compliance), Technology, Performance Management & Reporting, and more.

The Director, Custom SMA Product Manager will support the implementation and ongoing support of Fidelity Institutional's Custom SMA product initiatives, with the following core responsibilities:

  • Engage in data/information gathering and analysis to inform product strategy and product development activities

  • Create thoughtful, compelling business cases for new product ideas that identify user personas, high level requirements, revenue opportunity, and business economics

  • Lead product lifecycle process design and requirements definition to deliver on Custom SMA product roadmap

  • Provide overall Custom SMA product management support and drive resolution of client experience issues, business risks and process impediments

  • Resource for SMA subject matter expertise and product oversight, product policies, and business acceptance

  • Liaison to distribution partners to gather feedback and provide support for an enhanced client experience

  • Communicate investment philosophy, process, resources and results to internal partners and will work closely with product professionals across Fidelity's distribution channels to support product positioning, product marketing, and product development.

The Expertise and Skills You Bring

  • BS degree required. Progress towards an MBA and/or CFA preferred.

  • Ten plus (10+) years of financial services experience, preferably in product management, product development, or product strategy roles

  • Knowledge of managed accounts and separately managed accounts (SMA) processes, technology architecture, and trading practices

  • Working experience with direct indexing investment capabilities and product development

  • Solid understanding of the Financial Intermediary marketplace and all aspects of a brokerage offering, the competitive landscape of the managed accounts industry, and familiarity with Fidelity products and services

  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills required ensuring analyses are thoroughly vetted and sound

  • Strong proficiency in creating visually appealing, persuasive, and effective PowerPoint presentations

  • Perform data analysis to identify critical client insights, recognize product usage trends and uncover opportunities for improving process efficiencies for our clients

  • Interpersonal and influencing skills are critical along with a proven track record of successfully engaging with all levels of management across multiple business units

  • Communication skills and the ability to clearly, concisely and persuasively present sophisticated proposals, issues and arguments, both in writing and verbally.

  • Project Management and project delivery skills required to successfully drive projects across the company and run critical dependencies. Knowledge of agile working models is preferred

  • Work collaboratively across the Fidelity Enterprise and possess strong influence management skills while maintaining productive long-term working relationships

  • Manage internal and external communications related to assigned product responsibilities

The base salary range for this position is $110,000-222,000 USD per year.  

Placement in the range will vary based on job responsibilities and scope, geographic location, candidate’s relevant experience, and other factors.

Base salary is only part of the total compensation package. Depending on the position and eligibility requirements, the offer package may also include bonus or other variable compensation.
